アメリカ南部の話もいいが、カウボーイが登場する西部ものにも大いに惹かれる。「Misadventure」とは、不運な出来事とか災難という意味だが、ということは、西部もので、なおかつレモニー・スニケットの＜不幸な出来事＞みたいな要素もあるのかしらん？と、俄然興味を持ってしまった。＜不幸な出来事＞同様、やっぱり孤児になるみたいだし・・・。


ニューベリー賞作家ということで今いち不安もあるのだが（私はどうもニューベリー賞作品は合わない）、この作品でニューベリー賞をとったわけではないし、１冊くらい読んでみてもいいかなと。


「Wild West website」 という公式サイトもすでにできていることだし、出版社も力を入れているのだろう。たぶんこの先シリーズ化されて、何十冊も出版されるのかも。となれば、１巻目を入手しておくのは、コレクターとしても見逃せないことかもしれないなあ、なんて。
